Assignment One - PART A contributes towards 20% of your grade for this course.
Background
You have been assigned as a contractor-based construction manager leading a team to oversee the construction of a new University building. A set of working drawings for the building is provided as part of the contractual documents. This includes the site plan, locality plan, risk matrix, floor plans, sections, elevations and other relevant documents for the project.
Pre-recorded Site Tour
The following link will take you to the pre-recorded site tour of the now complete extension to the Sir Neil Waters Building. The video takes you around the site and includes commentary from the main contractor, past students and senior lecturer to assist you in answering all the questions for this assignment.
Apply the information provided with your knowledge gained from class to produce a report that details how you wish to manage the works on the allocated site regarding material supply and logistics. As part of this report, you must evaluate the site resources so that the construction processes are efficient.
Assessment
I. You are required to provide a site layout plan that contains a minimum of FIVE (5) areas of concern that is related to this project. These areas of concern must include some of the following:

Materials storage and handling 4. Accommodation for staff 5. Waste disposal
II. Provide justifications for the decisions made on your site layout plan. The focus should be on the ‘ WHAT ’ & ‘ WHY ’
III. Provide a works programme (Using MS Project, an Excel spreadsheet or an easy to use scheduling program), showing the activity schedule for the project in Gantt chart format. The selected format must be detailed with all the relevant information that include activities and their duration.
Note:
The content of this report will count for 90% of the total marks to be awarded. The remaining 10% will be awarded for quality of written work including correct grammar and spelling, overall report presentation and correct referencing style.
You must show how many labourers are assigned to each activity at a time. All write- ups included in this report should be approximately 1500 ****words ****in total. Write the number of words on your front page.
Assessment Submission Format
Present your report on A4 format with appropriate APA in-text citation and cross references where applicable.
All drawings/sketches must be presented in a neat and readable format with the required annotations.

Your assignments must be handed in the following format:
Softcopy: This must be submitted to the Stream site for this course. The work must be in its original format (Word, Excel or software). PDF can only be accepted for appendix documents only. If ****the ****main ****work ****is ****in ****PDF , your ****submission ****will ****not ****be ****accepted !
Extensions and ****Late Assig nments
All assignments should be received by the due date. Computer crashes are not accepted as a reason for late assignments, so copy your assignment to an external drive on a regular basis as you work on it. Also, other 代 写PART A: Site Operation and Management workload (personal and academic) will not be considered as a special circumstance - the assignments are available well in advance, and you must budget your time.
In the interest of fairness to students who have handed assignments in on time, late assignments will be penalised, at a rate of 3% for ****each ****calendar ****day ****late (including weekends and ****public holidays). ****Unless extenuating circumstances are present, work handed in more than 7 calendar ****d ays ****late will ****not ****receive ****any marks . ****If you cannot meet any of the due dates, it is essential that you contact the course coordinator for an extension at least five working days prior to the deadline.
Note - ****Extensions will not granted without a good reason.
