Improve your Vocabulary: Stop saying OKAY!
Don't use OK too much.
Here are the reasons.
- It lacks strong commitment.
e.g. when someone ask you like "hey do you wannan go for dinner", you say"ok...", it sounds like you don't really wanna go right?
You might wanna say: For sure!/ yes !/absolutely!/why not!/It sounds pretty!
- It lacks emotion.
"How was the meal?" -> You should say: great!/fantastic/interesting
:rocket:Because when you stop using words like okay, you are boosting more communications with others in the conversation. If you only use okay, people are struggling to find new angles and perspectives on what you are saying.
- Not giving authentic permission
"Do you mind if i take your car?" :no_entry_sign: okay.. :+1: yeah, go ahead/no problem
- creating unnecessary concern
"How are you? " ->"im okay..(sad tone)"(It makes others worried about you.)
Improve your Vocabulary: Stop saying SORRY
-
whoops
when you did some little mistakes like split some water on the board, it will be gone after 5 hours because of the sunshine or light right? It doesn't matter at all. You don't need to say sorry, sorry for what big problem?
-
my bad
e.g. california is in uk. oh, my bad, it's acutally in us.
-
sorry about that
if someone is talking about something with a group, and then you come in say "duh", and you " oh sorry about that, i interrupt you, I didn't mean it, please start again". I'm not rude but kinda exciting so I jumped in there.
-
Excuse me (pardon me)
e.g. (when you are having dinner with your friends, there's a preplanned appointment phone call coming in, and you have to go)Excuse me buddies, I've gotta go back home to address something.
e.g (when you are passing by someone) Excuse me pal(yeah just so simple, but it will crete a more positive and harmonious environment for others).
Then if you have done something really bad, and you wanna be more serious:
-
I want to apologize (to / for) (regret doing sth)
-
please forgive me (ask for forgiveness)
-
I want to make amends( repair relationship)
-
I didn't mean to offend you ( It means you hurt someone's feelings)
(if someone come and say "excuse me, I don't wanna offend you" that means they do wanna offend you)
- Death:I'm sorry to hear about that/ I'm very sorry for your loss.
A real apology has 3 parts:apologize + take responsibility + ask to make amends.
