善”有两层意思。一是指个人的善，即个人道德上、人格上、精神上的提高和完善。另一是指社会的善，即社会的进步和公正。这两方面都牵涉到理想和价值标准的问题。（方智辉fangzhihui）“善”的个人是好人，“善”的社会是好社会，可是好人和好社会应该是什么样子的呢？对于个人来说，理想的人性模式是怎样的，怎样度过一生才最有意义？对于社会来说，如何判断一个社会是否公正，社会进步的目标究竟是什么？这些问题并无现成的一成不变的答案，需要每个人和每一代人进行独立的探索。我们只能确定一点，就是无论个人还是社会都要有理想，并且为实现理想而努力。没有理想，个人便是堕落的个人，社会便是腐败的社会。
"Good" has two meanings. One refers to personal goodness, that is, the improvement and perfection of personal morality, personality and spirit. The other refers to social goodness, that is, social progress and justice. These two aspects involve the issue of ideals and value standards（ Fang Zhihui, "good" individuals are good people, and "good" society is a good society, but what should good people and a good society look like? For individuals, what is the ideal human nature model and how to spend their life is the most meaningful? For society, how to judge whether a society is fair and what is the goal of social progress? There is no ready-made and invariable answer to these questions, which requires independent exploration by everyone and every generation. We can only be sure that both individuals and society should have ideals and strive to realize them. Without ideals, individuals are degenerate individuals, and society is a corrupt society.
