Self-serving pursuits estrange us from the most important people in our lives. It dawns on me that without love, all such selfish endeavors are meaningless. Achieving goals may bring fleeting joy, but a sense of emptiness always follows. However, when we chase dreams with our loved ones and do work we’re passionate about, that feeling makes life feel eternal.
I’ve met many "successful" people—all too often, their wealth and achievements come at the cost of love in life. Yet the few who are truly happy are always those who stay close to family and friends, who laugh freely, and who dance to the music.
